The addition of a pool and cabana to a residence in Palm Beach was a particularly challenging project because of its site conditions. The site sloped at 30 degrees on average and access was limited to craning.
The design integrates a light timber clad steel structure into the dialectic between exposed sandstone rock shelves and the thick surrounding vegetation. Materiality, form and visibility play an important part in the planning of this little retreat in maximising the available space while maintaining the privacy of the client and the feel of seclusion.
